We invite the you, the customers of Bike Doctor, to join us for an awesome fall weekend of riding bikes in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Brevard, North Carolina.  Fall is the most amazing time of the year in the forest!  We will be riding both the rugged trails of Pisgah National Forest and the amazingly fun trails in Dupont State Recreational Forest.  The weekend is all inclusive.  You'll be staying in the beautiful cabins at Pilot Cove.  You won't be hungry as we use a variety of local vendors to provide top notch food for everyone.  If you have any dietary restrictions just let us know!  You just need to bring your bike (or we can set you up with a sweet rental)!!!!  See below for plenty more information!  


The cabins are all 2 bedrooms.  One bedroom has a king bed, the other has 2 twin beds.  Twin beds are $1,000, single king is $1,250, or you can book a shared king for 2 people for a total of $1800.  Just add both the king bed and a shared king upgrade to your cart.  Let us know ( if you have any questions about this!

The Trails

Pisgah National Forest is a half million acre forest that is home to hundreds of miles of amazing trails.  Roots, rocks, and a few more roots.  Oh, and also a bit of climbing.  Pisgah will put you (and your bike) to the test going both up and down the mountain!  We will hit up some of the classic trails in the area including Black Mountain & Daniel's Ridge.  

Dupont State Recreational Forest is an amazingly fun place to ride mountain bikes.  It has over 80 miles of flowy trails that make it hard to stop grinning!  You'll still get plenty of climbing in at Dupont, but it comes in smaller chunks than Pisgah.  And while the downhills are less technical, they are still loads of fast fun!

The Lodging

Pilot Cove offers a really cool and unique lodging experience for mountain bikers.  Between an onsite flow trail, huge porches on each cabin, and plenty of room around the fire pit, everything about the atmosphere is catered towards people who love to play in the woods!

Each cabin is 2 bedrooms with a nice kitchen and living room area and a giant deck on the back.  We have double and single occupancy rooms available.  If you have a friend or significant other you don't mind sharing a king size bed with, you can sign up two people for a king room for a discount.

the food

We promise you will be quite well fed on this trip!  We will handle your meals during the trip, including awesome local dinners on Friday and Saturday nights, tasty breakfast burritos on Saturday and Sunday, and trails lunches on Saturday and Sunday.   

The beer

Brevard has 4 awesome local breweries. Western North Carolina as a whole has 50+ excellent breweries as well!  You will be responsible for your own beer, but rest assured there are plenty of tasty local options.

You will have our local guides showing you all of the trail!   Your guides will be Jenna, Barrett, and the crew from (Chad & Tricia Davis).  For more info on your guides go here!


12:30 PM - Meet & Greet at Pilot Cove
1:30 PM - Roll out on our first ride!
5:00 PM - Showers & Beers (Or LaCroix! Whatever your post-ride beverage of choice!)
6:30 PM - Dinner
9:00 PM - Campfire & more beers (you have a big day the next day, so not too many beers)

8:30 AM - Breakfast
9:30 AM - Pack lunches and head to Dupont
10:00 AM - 3:00 PM - Ride Bikes!
4:00 PM - Ride the onsite Pilot Cove flow trail
5:30 PM - Dinner and Beers
8:00 PM - More campfire (but seriously you'll be pretty tired at this point!)

8:00 AM - Breakfast (and lots of coffee)
9:00 AM - Roll out to Pisgah
1:30 PM -  Finish up the weekend pumped but exhausted!  Maybe grab one last beer before hitting the road!

questions & answers

What is the cancellation/refund policy?

*You can transfer your trip to another rider for a 100% refund if needed, just let me know:

If you cancel 60+ days prior to the trip - 80% refund
If you cancel 30-59 days prior to the trip - 60% refund
If you cancel 15-30 days of the trip - 40% refund
If you cancel within 14 days of the trip - 0% refund

We highly recommend travel insurance if you are worried that you may have reason to cancel your trip last minute!!

How old do I need to be?  What are the age requirements?

No matter what, you have to have a parent/guardian present to sign the waiver if you are under 18 years old.  
If you are less than 16 years of age, then your parent/guardian need to contact me (Barrett, prior to booking, and you will also be required to stay in a cabin with a parent or guardian.  They do not have to go on the rides, but we will help get them set up in a cabin. They are also welcome to join in on all the non-bike shenanigans.  Feel free to send an email if there are any questions about this!   

How skilled or fit of a rider do I need to be to participate in this trip?

You will need a solid base level of mountain bike fitness to participate.  Rides will be several hours in length.  We will break into a couple of groups based upon fitness and skill level.  While this is not a beginner level trip, if you have a solid level of mountain bike fitness, you will be able to have a great time.  The terrain will have the occasional steep or rocky section, but nothing is mandatory to ride and walking the "techy" bits is perfectly acceptable.  

Will I need a car once I'm there?

It's up to you.  You can ride with us! However, feel free to drive if you'd rather not ride with a bunch of smelly mountain bikers.  


What are the room & cabin options again?

So each cabin we reserved will have two bedrooms.  One bedroom has two twin sized beds.  These rooms will be sold as double occupancy.  So you will share the room with another rider.  The other bedroom has a king sized bed.  You can book the king sized bed as a single occupancy or as a shared room between two friends, a couple, etc.  If you and a buddy are signing up separately but want to be in the same cabin, just let me know.  

What if I arrive the night before?  Can I book additional nights before or after?  

Yes!  You can book additional nights directly through Pilot Cove.  

Can I book additional guided rides for before or after the trip?  

Definitely.  Just let us (Red Wolf Tours) know! 

What is the closest airport?

Asheville airport is about 20 minutes away.  Greenville Spartanburg airport is about an hour twenty minutes away.  

What should I bring?

Though it sounds cliche`, a good attitude is a must!  Be ready to have fun and challenge yourself on some amazing trails.  

More practically however, there are a number of things that you MUST HAVE!

  • A solid reliable mountain bike

  • Helmets are required.

  • A way to carry at least 2 liters of water (Camelbak, etc)

  • Proper mountain bike footwear. No sandals or anything like that. Closed toe sturdy shoes that you can walk in easily.

  • Any medicine you may need! Epi Pen if you have a bee allergy. Inhaler if you have asthma. Be prepared. We will be out in the woods away from cell signal.

  • Clothing for a wide range of weather. It could be 65 and sunny, or it could be 30 and raining. A light rain jacket at a minimum is required. October is typically a beautiful month in the mountains, but be prepared just in case.

  • Snacks. Just pack a snack or two in case you get hungry before we finish riding. You'll be burning plenty of calories!
